Kyocera Corp. has announced that they have developed a Bluetooth RF module that measures 8-by-7-by-1.7mm - 30 percent smaller than competing device in the market - making it the world's smallest Bluetooth module for CDMA cellphones.

The RB07 features a Bluetooth RFIC and Qualcomm's MSM baseband chip mounted on a CSP that features a redesigned laminate structure and matching circuit, allowing the module to achieve size reduction.

The redesign also allowed the module to achieve a reception level of <-78dBm with an output of Class 2. The reception sensitivity thus allowed power consumption to be reduced from 70mA to 54mA, thereby extending battery life in cellphones. Standby current is rated at <50?A.

The RB07 is specified for operation over the -30C to 75C temperature range in compliance with the Bluetooth RF specifications.
