Altera Corp. will be offering its EP1S10 and EP1S20 Stratix FPGA devices in a 17-by-17mm FineLine BGA 484-pin package with immediate Quartus II development software support.

Both Stratix devices will be available in the thermally-enhanced flip-chip package in speed grades -5, -6, and -7. The F484 package is specified for operation over the industrial temperature range and supports vertical migration between the EP1S10 and the EP1S20 devices.

The EP1S10 device features 10,570 logic elements, 920,448 bits of the company's TriMatrix memory, and six DSP blocks, while the EP1S20 device offers 18,460 logic elements, 1.67Mb of TriMatrix memory, and 10 DSP blocks.

The Quartus II v2.1 service pack 1 design software provides compilation and pin-out support for the F484 pin package to enable customers to start designing with the new package.

The EP1S10 will be priced starting at $70 for volumes >100,000 units, while the EP1S20 F484 pin package has prices starting at $110 for volumes >50,000 units. Samples will be available in December this year.
