Exar adds T1 interface device for multichannel apps

Exar Corp. has added a seven-channel T1 physical interface device to its T/E product portfolio and is targeted at multichannel devices including digital cross connects, channel banks, multiplexers, high-speed data transmission line cards, as well as public switching systems, and PBX interfaces.

The XRT81L17 analog front-end (AFE) device includes seven independent T1 analog front-ends, (receiver/transmitter pairs with clock and data recovery) which enable the PHY of a 28-line system to be implemented with only four devices. The chip also contains transmit duty cycle correction circuitry allowing the AFE to generate output transmit pulses independent of the transmit clock's duty cycle.

Packaged in a 128-pin TQFP casing and pin-compatible with the company's XRT81L27 E1 AFE, the XRT81L17 is complies with DS1 standards, and detects and clears LOS per ITU-T G.775. In addition, the device can be controlled/configured in both hardware and host modes.
