TT Electronics MMG develops ferrite material for HF power supplies

TT Electronics MMG has developed the F2 NiZn ferrite material that is claimed by the company to exhibit optimum power loss characteristics at frequencies between 2MHZ to 5MHz, making the material suitable for use in switch-mode and resonant-mode transformers or high-frequency power supplies.

The material exhibits an initial permeability of 130 when measured at 10kHz and 0.1mT (250C). Typical amplitude permeability is 630 at 200mT (250C). Typical power loss density, measured at 1MHz, 20mT (1000C) is 200kW/m3; at 3MHz, 10mT (1000C), 130kW/m3; and at 5MHz, 5mT (1000C), 110kW/m3.
