MIPS licenses Micronas IP processor core

Micronas GmbH, a provider of ICs for consumer electronics, multimedia, and automotive applications, has licensed MIPS Technologies Inc.'s 32-bit processor IP core for its development of next-gen digital consumer electronics products.

"Our digital television roadmap will be based on MIPS CPUs, thus offering our customers a seamless transition from our current product portfolio based on the MIPS-compatible Lexra CPU," said Dirk Wieberneit, VP of product development and general manager of Micronas. "By licensing the latest MIPS technology, Micronas hopes to build on its own and its customers' investment in tools and software."
