Motorola Ventures, the strategic venture arm of Motorola Inc., has made an equity investment in Morpho Technologies, a provider of licensable reconfigurable IP DSP and chips for wireless, imaging, and multimedia applications. Additionally, Motorola's Semiconductor Products Sector licensed Morpho's MS1 Core.

Morpho's MS1 architecture provides a reconfigurable array of individual DSP cells working together to provide a parallel-processing engine with the ability to service data intensive, real-time streaming functions. Some example applications include mobile communication systems, imaging engines, and multimedia processing products.

"The MS1 core complements the core technologies used in current Motorola products, and will enable us to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions for our customers," said Warren Holtsberg, corporate VP and director of Venture Investing, Motorola.
