Dongbu Anam Semiconductor Inc. has laid its plans regarding its production lines, in anticipation for the expected rebound of the semiconductor sector in 2003. Firstly, the wafer foundry aims to ensure stable production on its 0.255m and 0.185m production lines. The company also intends to invest more of its resources on its 0.135m line, to push it for mass production in 2003.

"The semiconductor market is expected to slightly rebound over 1H of 2003 and is seen to experience a prosperous period starting 2H of 2003," said the company's spokesman.

In preparation for this, Dongbu will upgrade the facilities in its Sangwo plant. Construction of the plant's cleanroom and the purchasing of equipment for Sangwo's 0.135m line is set to begin immediately. The company targets a production capacity of 40,000 units for both its 0.135m and 0.095m lines. Meanwhile, Dongbu's Bucheon plant will maintain its production capacity of 30,000 units.

Further, Dongbu will replace several of their old equipment with new ones and will diversify its products by applying special processing technologies such as BiCMOS processing.
