The TRF6901 RF transceiver from Texas Instruments Inc. is designed for FSK or on-off keying (OOK) transceiver applications in wireless data communications, PDAs, remote sensors, security systems, and home automation systems, and enable devices to wireless transmit and/or receive up to 64Kbps of data at distances >200m.

The multichannel RF transceiver is intended for digitally modulated applications in the 860MHz to 930MHz band. It operates down to 1.8V with an on-board dc/dc converter and delivers a typical output power of 9dBm. The synthesizer has a typical frequency resolution of about 200kHz and features a fully integrated VCO.

It also features programmable crystal frequency trimming, programmable brownout detection, on-chip reference oscillator and PLL, linear receive strength signal indicator, and a three-wire serial port interface for programming.

The TRF6901 is available in a 48-pin PQFP and is priced at $2.51 in 10,000 units.
