ZettaCom Inc. has announced that it is sampling its ZTM552 traffic manager that provides a full suite of configurable algorithms that support QoS differentiation for any data protocol, at line rates of up to 10Gbps.

Backward-compatible with the company's ZTM200 traffic manager, the ZTM552 features an architecture that allows users to combine it with any interoperable network processor or switch fabric across multiple platforms, allowing system designers to mix and match components for their particular target applications.

The ZTM552 provides full 10Gbps operation for OC-192, 10GbE, or OC-48 and 1GbE applications, with one device for ingress and one for egress. An optional extended per-flow co-processor can be used in either direction to add queuing and scheduling for a greater number of simultaneous flows.

Target applications for the device include multiprotocol core and edge switches and routers, multi-service optical core and edge devices, service-aware switches and provisioning platforms, and SANs.
