Cirrus op-amps achieve low-noise functionality

A proprietary MultiPath design developed initially by Cirrus Logic Inc. for dc measurement ADCs is working in op-amps to achieve low noise with low drift capabilities, as well as high open-loop gain and low-voltage operation.

Cirrus designed the CS3001 family of single and dual op-amps for signal conditioning for low-frequency, precision instrumentation applications such as thermocouple signals for temperature measurement, or signals from load cells to measure weight.

The op-amps are said to be among the first to feature simultaneous low noise (6nV/sqrt-Hz at 0.5Hz with a 0.08Hz 1/f noise corner frequency) with low drift (0.05?V/C maximum) and high open-loop gain (10 billion minimum).

They are also said to offer excellent common-mode rejection ratio and power supply rejection ratio, with a negative supply rail at the common-mode input.

The CS3001, 3002, 3011, and 3012 are sampling now in an 8-pin SOIC package. The CS3001 and CS3011 are priced at $1.94 and the CS3002 and CS3012 are priced at $3.02, all in 10,000-unit quantities.
