Hewlett-Packard has chosen to integrate Transmeta Corp.'s Crusoe TM5800 processor on its latest Compaq Tablet PC TC1000, the first computer to use the 1GHz processor.

"The energy-efficient properties of Transmeta's Crusoe processor, combined with the power-management features of Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, provide users with more flexibility and mobility with their full-function mobile PCs than ever before," said Alexandra Loeb, VP of the Tablet PC division at Microsoft Corp. "Working together for the past few years, the two companies are excited to finally bring the vision of the Tablet PC to users today."

The Compaq Tablet PC TC1000 weighs about three pounds, runs Microsoft's new Windows XP Tablet PC Edition OS and is an innovative notebook PC with a detachable keyboard, combining a form factor with PC functionality.
