Xilinx offers CPLD design kit for free

Xilinx Inc. has announced that it is offering the CoolRunner-II Design Kit free of charge to qualified customers to further strengthen the emerging CPLD market.

The kit allows designers to gauge the CoolRunner-II CPLD platform against the traditional ASIC architecture when designing programmable logic for information appliances such as PDAs, 3G cellphones, digital cameras, and other next-generation wireless Internet devices.

The kit includes a an XC2C256 starter board populated with XC2C256-7TQ144 CoolRunner-II CPLDs, programming cable, ISE WebPACK CD, CoolRunner-II resource CD, and a programmable logic starter book.
