Zetex has introduced its Acoustar ZXCW8100 two-channel digital audio amplifier controller that handles digital audio signals sampled at up to 192kHz via 32-bit data processing.

Showcased at electronica 2002, the IC supports most digital audio formats, from SACD to DTS. It produces a pulse width modulated left and right channel output at a PWM frequency of 1MHz to minimize RF switching interference.

The device exhibits a THD-N performance of 0.02 percent at 1W into a 4-ohm load and provides a dynamic range >100dB, as well as a noise floor level of -125dB. Integrated within the amplifier are the controller IC, gate drivers, MOSFET H-bridge stage, and output filters.

It also features a device ID that enables up to four devices to be used together in any one system, thereby extending support for six-channel (5.1 home theatre) domestic DVD and in-car entertainment systems.
