International Rectifier has announced the release of the IRF6607 DirectFET MOSFET specifically designed for switch applications in synchronous buck converters operating up to 2MHz.

A buck converter using a single pair of IRF6607 is claimed to deliver up to 30A per phase at 2MHz with 77 percent efficiency.

The 30V device is housed in an SMT package with dual-sided cooling in an SO-8 footprint, and provides significant improvements in conduction and switching losses. It exhibits an on-resistance of 2.7 milliohms and a gate-to-charge of 16nC, resulting to lower switching losses in the MHz frequency range.

The new IRF6607 is priced at $1.69 each in 10,000-unit quantities.
