EM Microelectronic-Marin SA has released the EM6625 and EM6626 microcontrollers that feature a built-in mux LCD driver, which consumes 0.4?A in standby mode and operate from 1.2V to 3.6V, making them suitable for use in battery-operated devices such as toys, household appliances, and security and medical devices.

The EM6625 drives 20 segments, three or four times mux, while the EM6626 drives 32 segments, three or four times mux. These microcontrollers have LCD frequencies of 32Hz, 42.7Hz, or 64HZ, allowing them to avoid interferences with harmonics in RF and communication applications.

Both ICs draw 1.6?A in active mode and 0.2?A in sleep mode. They also include a melody generator that can be used for basic sound generation. Other peripherals include an 8-bit SPI interface, 3-wire serial port, 10-bit universal counter, and a BCD millisecond counter.

The EM6625/26 are priced starting at $1.10 each in quantities of 50,000 units and are available in 52-pin and 64-pin TQFPs, as well as in die form.
