System General Corp. has announced the availability of the PowerLab USB-interface universal device programmer that supports programming of high-density Flash memory, CPLD, PLD, FPGA, and microcontrollers without sacrificing speed, quality, and capability, the company says.

The USB interface allows the device to download files at a rate of up to 2.8Mbps. Its high-speed programming technology allows the PowerLab to program an Intel 28160C3TA Flash memory in 12s.

Aside from programming, the device also performs pin continuity checks, auto-ID, auto-start, insertion checks, serial code programming, and has file and memory manipulation tools. PowerLab operates from a voltage supply down to 1.2V and supports the Windows 95/98/2000/ME platform.

The company promises free software upgrades and will be releasing a version for the Windows NT and XP platforms soon.
