Samtec Inc. has added a guidepost option to its QTE/QSE-GP series of 0.8mm (0.0315-inch) pitch high-speed interfaces to align the connectors accurately when mating. The company said it is a desirable feature in applications that require the blind mating of two boards.

The QTE/QSE series offers mounting configurations for traditional, parallel board stacking; perpendicular mating of boards, such as in daughtercard applications; and horizontal (coplanar) "pizza box" implementations.

As part of Samtec's Q-Strip family of high-speed interfaces, the connectors are rated for use up to 2.33GHz, depending on the application and interface. They can be used in servers, routers, set-top boxes, network systems, switchers, hubs, bridges, industrial computers, test systems, and RAID systems.
