With the introduction of its CPA500-4530, Power-One touts 25 percent more output power for 6U x 8HP-size supplies serving CompactPCI applications.

Output-current ratings have also increased, up to 50A at 5V and 60A at 3.3V at the main outputs. Two additional outputs provide 12A at 12V and 3A at -12V (consistent with a total output power of 500W, over 0C to 50C with 400LFM cooling). The universal-input supplies are specified to 70C, with derating. A 47-pin PICMG 2.11-compliant Positronic connector facilitates hot-swap parallel/redundant operation.

The supplies' 3.3V, 5V, and 12V outputs have remote-sense and current-sharing capabilities. All outputs have the FET equivalents of a diode-OR connection. Additional features include power-factor correction, front-panel-mounted LEDs to provide visual input and output-voltage status, and efficiency greater than 80 percent.

The supplies are protected against overcurrent, overvoltage, and overtemperature. Interface signals include inhibit, power fail and temperature warning. This product is recognized to UL/cUL60950 and TUV licensed to EN60950, carries the CE mark for the low-voltage directive, and meets FCC and EN55022 Class A standards for conducted EMI.

The CPA500-4530 is priced at $400 each in quantities of 250. Evaluation units are usually available from 6 to 8 weeks, and OEM production quantities are from 8 to 10 weeks.
