The MAS3515G digital audio decoder from Micronas GmbH combines MP3 decoding capability with a wavetable-based MIDI synthesizer that can provide up to 40 voices of MIDI audio, making the IC suitable for integration into portable multimedia devices.

Another version, the MAS3505G, features only the MIDI sysnthesizer. Both operate from a minimum supply voltage of 2.7V and have an I/O voltage range down to 1.8V. They are available in 6-by-8-by-1.2mm, 40-pin BGA packages.

The main functional blocks of the decoders are the MIDI synthesizer and the compressed audio and speech decoder. They also integrate a 20-bit DSP RISC core, supported by both serial and parallel data interfaces and by an integrated PLL. On-chip RAM and ROM are used to provide efficient and flexible access to all the primary audio synthesis and decoding functions. A program download option allows the support of additional functionalities such as ADPCM encoding.
