Mitsubishi Electric Corp. has announced the development of three TFT-LCD modules that utilize Lumileds Lighting LLC's Luxeon line of high-brightness LEDs and are designed for use in multimedia, medical, and POS monitors.
The 17.5-inch multimedia monitor has a brightness of 500 nits and exhibits increased color fidelity and tunable white points that permit adjustment for different applications such as DVDs and Excel spreadsheets.
The 15.1-inch XGA medical monitor has a brightness of 250 nits and features a high aperture ratio inplane switching panel for a wider viewing angle. It also has tunable white points, improved color fidelity and LED clarity.
The 12.1-inch SVGA POS monitor exhibits 350 nits of brightness and can also be used as factory automation monitors. It also features self-adjusting brightness and color levels, and is claimed to have better viewability in bright interior environments such as convenience stores.
The mercury-free modules utilize Lumileds' Luxeon technology to provide a wider color gamut with more saturated colors compared to fluorescent-based systems. Luxeon's ultra-bright display will also include a light output feedback system that automatically maintains brightness and color levels throughout the life of the monitor. |
