Seiko Epson Corp. has announced that it has developed what it claims to be the world's smallest LVDS-output crystal oscillator operating at 2.5V. The EG-2121CA-L has an output frequency range of 53.125MHz to 700MHz and is available in a 5-by-7-by-1.4mm ceramic package. Another version, the EG-2102CA-L, operates from a 3.3V source.

Both lead-free devices exhibit a duty cycle of 12 percent (<175MHz) or 15 percent (<350MHz) and 110 percent (>350MHz). Frequency stability is at least 150x10-6.

The EG-2102CA-L draws a current of 30mA and exhibits a rise/fall time of 600ps, while the EG-2121CA-L draws 20mA and has 400ps rise/fall time.
