Silicon Lab modem supports Matsushita phone

Matsushita Communication Ind. Co. Ltd has chosen Silicon Laboratories Inc.'s ISOmodem embedded modem to be used on its latest L-mode consumer telephones. The ISOmodem is a complete hardware modem, packaged in a tiny two-chip solution that features advanced telephony capabilities such as global compatibility, telephone line in-use detection, and caller ID.

Matsushita's L-mode telephones, on the other hand, provide Internet access and e-mail services via a home telephone and use the ISOmodem to connect to the new NTT L-mode service. The L-mode telephones are currently shipping in Japan.
