Siemens Information and Communication Networks Inc. (ICN) has selected Infineon Technologies' Geminax chipset for ADSL line cards to be used on the Siemens XpressLink DSL Access Multiplexer (DSLAM) system.

"The high integration of Infineon's ADSL chipset allowed us to implement a 64-channel ADSL data only line card that meets our aggressive cost, space and performance goals," said Dr. Hermann Rodler, VP Access Solutions at Siemens ICN.

The Geminax chipset provides a single programmable hardware platform for line cards supporting ADSL data-only, integrated voice/data, and POTS channels. It supports all of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) as well as regional specifications for ADSL and ADSL2 data links. The Geminax also offers a migration path towards the emerging ADSL+ standard, enabling equipment manufacturers to use a single line card for global deployment.
