The MAX3000E/MAX3001E/MAX3002-MAX3012 octal logic-level translation ICs from Maxim Integrated Products consume 0.1?A of quiescent current and are available in 4-by-5 UCSP or 20-pin TSSOP casing, making them suitable for logic level translation in portable devices.

The MAX3000E/MAX3001E/MAX3002/MAX3003 are designed for bidirectional level translation applications such as SIM/SMART card interfaces, while the MAX3004-MAX3012 are designed for unidirectional level translators. The MAX3000E features a slew-rate-limited driver guaranteed to translate data up to 230Kbps, while the MAX3001E, also slew-rate limited, operates up to 4Mbps. The MAX3002-MAX3012 are guaranteed up to 35Mbps.

These devices allow low-voltage ASICs with a supply voltage down to 1.2V to communicate with higher voltage peripherals with a supply voltage up to 5.5V, and vice-versa. They facilitate both internal communication within a device such as an ASIC to an ADC, and external communication such as a cellphone ASIC to a SIM card interface.

The MAX3000E/MAX3001E feature ?15kV ESD protection on the I/O Vcc pins, allowing them to be used in applications that interact with external devices. These pins are protected using the Human Body Model, ensuring strict compliance with international standards.

The ICs are screened for operation over the extended temperature range and are priced starting at $1.60.
