ChipMOS to acquire 40 percent stake in ThaiLin

ChipMOS Technologies Inc. is planning to acquire a 40 percent direct stake in ThaiLin Semiconductor Corp., a semiconductor testing services company. The transaction is expected to close by the end of this year.

According to ChipMOS, it will take part in the operation of ThaiLin and transfer necessary technologies to strengthen its management team, and upgrade its technology and business scope.

"The acquisition will not only enhance our competitiveness in the IC testing industry but will also broaden our customer bases worldwide. In the meantime, our position in IC memory testing industry will be further strengthened as our testing capacity and throughput will be significantly enhanced upon the completion of the acquisition," said S.J. Cheng, deputy chairman and CEO of ChipMOS.
