Toshiba Corp. has presented a 5GHz WLAN chipset comprised of a baseband LSI and intermediate frequency (IF) IC. It is designed to support the Card Bus interface and integration of PCMCIA-based applications such as PCI cards, access points, PCs, and PDAs.
The TC35672 baseband LSI integrates a dedicated circuit that can process data transferred at 54Mbps, and a 10-bit ADC and DAC that operates at 40MHz. Available in a 16-by-16-by-1.4mm, 361-pin FPBGA package, the IC has a built-in TX39 core and features interfaces for external Flash ROM and EEPROM.
The TA32151 IF IC is designed to interface with the TC35672 and integrates an orthogonal modulator and demodulator with a dc offset function that removes the remaining dc elements in ac.
On receiving a signal from an RF IC, the TA32151 executes orthogonal modulation and demodulation and transmits the signal to the baseband LSI. The IC operates from a 300MHz to 600MHz frequency range and provides and enables auto gain control of the amplifier to achieve reception >70dB and transmission >40dB.
The TA32151 is available in a 36-pin QON package measuring 6.2-by-6.2-by-0.8mm and operates from 2.7V to 3.7V. |
