Toppan Printing has reached agreements with NEC Corp.'s in-house venture, Telemidic Ltd, and wireless technology company, AMPLET Inc., to co-develop next-generation RFID tags and reader/writers, and to exclusively manufacture and market them.
Telemidic owns a technology patent to produce 2.45GHz wireless data erasable chips, while AMPLET holds a circuit technology patent to produce low-power RFID reader/writers at less than 1/20 the current price, in addition to an antenna technology patent.
Toppan Printing is scheduled to begin the production and sale of the RFID tags and multi-frequency reader/writers in commercial quantities in the spring of this year. The company aims to gain 30 percent of the market share. |
