Thales PMC supports synchronous, asynchronous protocols

The PMC-SIO octal serial I/O PCI mezzanine card (PMC) from Thales Computer mixes a quad enhanced serial communication controller (ESCC) and a quad UART equipped with EIA-232 or EIA-422/485 interfaces, making the board suitable for applications that require extensive serial I/O for the management and monitoring of peripherals.

The PMC allows for universal PCI signaling voltage and is also available in a ruggedized version suited to handle military and aerospace applications.

The PMC-SIO includes two "full-featured" and two "multi-PHY" 85230 ESCC ports with EIA-422/485 interface. The "full-featured" ports support synchronous/isochronous/asynchronous protocols, data rate of up to 3.6864Mbps, synchronous modems, and multi-drop full and half duplex with RTS flow control.

The "multi-PHY" ports are similar to the "full-featured" ports except that they only support synchronous and asynchronous protocols.

Available in versions for convection-cooled (SA and RA class) or conduction-cooled (RC class) environments, the PMC-SIO provides both front and rear I/O and has a VxWorks board support package. The PMC to PCI interface on the PMC-SIO uses a 33MHz, 32-bit PLX PCI9030, with 3.3V or 5V signaling and a configuration serial EEPROM.
