Zenith Electronics Corp. announced at the 2003 International Consumer Electronics Show the release of more than a dozen direct-view models of LCD HDTV monitors and TVs with sizes ranging from 13 inches to 52 inches.

The L17WDVD is the company's first LCD system with a 17-inch screen size and a built-in DVD player. The LC features a picture-enhancing "Super In Plan Switching" (Super IPS) technology, while the DVD drive uses a vacuum-loaded system that integrates with the slim profile of the monitor.

Other members of the ultra-thin LCD systems include the 30-inch L30W36, 23-inch L23W36, and the 17-inch L17W36 LCD HDTV monitors. All feature HD-ready XGA resolution and are formatted for widescreen (16:9) presentation.

The company has also launched a line of enhanced-definition (EDTV) models including the 20-inch L20V36 and the 13-inch L13V36.

The Super IPS technology delivers horizontal and vertical angles of 176 and is claimed to ensure better and clearer pictures from off-center seating positions than previous products.
