Transmeta processor powers Tsinghua notebook

The Tsinghua Unisplendour Group, a major notebook supplier in China, has selected Transmeta Corp.'s Crusoe 5800 processor for its latest notebook targeted for the China market. The Crusoe-based notebook - Lilly notebook, weighs only 3.5 pounds and will be marketed to women in China as an attractive alternative to traditional larger, heavier notebooks.

"China is one of the world's most important markets and Transmeta is committed to expanding the availability of Crusoe-based computers by working with companies like the Tsinghua," said Dr. Matthew R. Perry, president and CEO of Transmeta. "This deal increases Transmeta's exposure to the China market."
