SynQor Inc., a manufacturer of dc/dc converters, has announced its plans to totally eliminate the use of lead from its PowerQor, BusQor, DualQor, and NiQor products and manufacturing processes.

The recently completed initial phase involves a change in the PCB finish. The second phase will consist of eliminating lead from the solder utilized throughout the production process and is expected to be completed by July 2003. Upon completion, SynQor will achieve a Lead Free 2 status for their entire dc/dc converter line. SynQor's lead-free initiative follows the guidelines defined in IPC and EIA standards.

SynQor has begun to switch the PCB finish in their products from hot air solder leveled Sn/Pb (tin/lead) to electroless nickel immersion gold for all new and previously released products. The company assures that the change to ENIG-finished PCBs does not affect the form, fit or function of SynQor's dc/dc converters.

SynQor will begin shipping ENIG finished products immediately to customers as older inventories become depleted.
