Computer Access Technology Corp. has announced the availability of the FCTracer Fibre Channel analyzer that enables storage equipment developers and engineers to develop and independently monitor and analyze multiple channels of traffic, resulting to faster verification and problem resolution.

The device allows users to independently trigger and record up to eight 1Mbps or 2Mbps Fibre Channel ports, each at a different transfer rate. It also allows quick location and identification of intermittent problems, specific errors, and data patterns with up to two parallel event sequencers containing 256 states; each with an independent trigger and filter criteria.

It also features upper-level protocol decoding and easy access to packet level detail to simplify the interpretation and debug of the Fibre Channel protocol. Real-time performance monitoring and statistics are also provided to identify throughput problems and anomalies.

The FCTracer fits into the company's Universal Protocol Analysis System, allowing rapid development and testing of products and enabling engineers to quickly move from protocol to protocol.

The analyzer also uses the company's Trace analysis software, which utilizes a proprietary Windows-based User Interface, and displays communications traffic in searchable easy-to-use, color-coded fields with detailed traffic summary reports.
