Altera Corp. has announced the availability of what the company claims to be industry's largest 0.13?m FPGA available in the market today. The EP1S80 Stratix device has 79,040 logic elements, 7.2Mb of embedded RAM, and 1,238 user I/Os.

The FPGA is built on TSMC's 0.13?m, all-layer copper process technology, providing customers with both increased core performance and availability. In addition, the company's patented redundancy technology allows the EP1S80 to be manufactured in a predictable and cost-effective manner.

Production versions of EP1S80 are available now in 1.27mm, 956-pin BGA and 1mm, 1,508-pin FineLine BGA packages.
