Exar clock synthesizer touts low power dissipation

Exar Corp. has announced the availability of the XRT8010 350MHz clock synthesizer, which offers LVDS interface and an accumulated jitter performance of 6ps rms (311MHz) while dissipating <80mW of power from a 3.3V input.

Suitable for use in GbE and SONET/SDH applications, the XRT8010 joins the previously announced XRT8020 (650MHz) into the company's telecom timing product portfolio.

The 16-lead QLP device achieves clock signals up to 350MHz by multiplying the frequency of a standard low cost crystal oscillator (20MHz to 40MHz), or an external clock source. The synthesizer utilizes an analog PLL to multiply by a factor of 6 or 8 the frequency of the input reference clock.

The XRT8010 operates over the industrial temperature range and is prices at $4.20 in 1,000-piece quantities.
