Global Sources will kick off the 2003 season with the hosting of the 8th International IC-China Conference & Exhibition (IIC-China), which will be co-located with the 3rd Embedded Systems Conferences-China (ESC-China) and the 2nd Electronic Design Automation & Test Expo-China (EDA&T-China). These events will open in Shanghai on March 3-4 and will then move on to Beijing on March 6-7. IIC-China and ESC-China will wrap up in Shenzhen on March 10-11.

This year's IIC-China/ESC-China Technology Forum will feature speakers from 40 companies presenting papers related to RF/wireless design, networking technologies, power management, multimedia systems design, interfacing and data handling, and systems design and programming.

IIC-China will offer tutorials on next-generation optical transport protocols like virtual concatenation, interfacing and data handling, and front-end RF design. On the other hand, ESC-China is expected to help engineers hone their skills in IP protection, DSP-based AVR subsystem design, building on embedded Linux for high-availability, among others.

The IIC-China/ESC-China Exhibition, considered as China's biggest exhibit of IC applications and embedded systems technologies, is now in its eighth year of bringing to the public the latest in system design solutions.

The 2002 edition of IIC-China/ESC-China drew a total of 20,168 participants, a 7 percent jump from the previous year. More than 40 percents of the attendees are from the telecoms sector, and about 90 percent are involved in design/development engineering. There were 77 exhibiting companies last year, and more are expected this year.

On the other hand, the EDA&T-China Technical Vendor Seminars will orient CTOs, directors, engineering managers, and other senior executives from top technology companies, universities, and industry associations on verification trends and solutions in China.

Held in Beijing and Shanghai, last year's EDA&T-China attracted approximately 5,000 participants. Post-show results reveal that 76 percent of the attendees hold engineering-related jobs, and 56 percent are interested in purchasing EDA tools within the next 6 to 12 months.
