The Sunbrite Group of Lumex Inc. has introduced the StripLEDs flexible lighting source, which is aimed at replacing neon and incandescent lighting in signage, decorative lighting, and channel letter illumination applications.

Compared to neon and incandescent light sources, the StripLEDs are solid-state devices that offer an operating life >100,000h. The low-profile, high-intensity devices are also claimed to generate low heat levels compared to incandescent bulbs and eliminate the need for bulky, high-voltage power sources required by neon light sources.

The StripLEDs provide a brightness level comparable to neon and are available in a full range of colors. The LEDs used provide a viewing angle of 85, thereby reducing the number of LEDs required to maintain a uniform light emission level.
