PrairieComm Inc. has announced the commercial availability of the PCI5110 multimode integrated baseband processor, which has achieved UMTS data calls at 64-, 128-, and 384Kbps.

Aside from high-speed, data-intensive multimedia applications, the baseband processor also supports the WAP and Bluetooth specifications for short-range wireless connectivity. It supports full 384Kbps transmission and reception, as well as Class 12 GSM/GPRS via Turbo Coding.

Built on an ARM946 32-bit RISC microprocessor core, the PCI5110 extends handset battery life with multiple built-in power codes. It also incorporates a USB interface capable of 12Mbps transmission rate.
