EM Micro's mother company acquires transponder manufacturer

EM Microelectronic-Marin Ltd, a semiconductor manufacturer of digital, analog, and mixed-signal ICs for battery-operated and field-powered devices, has announced that its parent company, The Swatch Group Ltd, has acquired 100 percent of the shares of division Sokymat IDent Component GmbH (SID) of Reichshof-Wehnrath, Germany.

SID is a manufacturer of RFID transponders for car immobilizers. The ICs used in the transponders come exclusively from EM Microelectronic. SID also develops and sells components for keyless entry and keyless-go systems for cars.

Through this acquisition, the customers of SID will have direct access to the product offerings of EM Microelectronic such as supervisory ICs and watchdogs operating at 125?, display drivers, displays, microcontrollers, acceleration sensor interfaces, and ASICs.
