Magis Networks Inc. has received patents by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in the areas of 5GHz antenna design and 5GHz WLAN security. Magis develops chipsets that enable wireless communications of video, TCP/IP data, and audio, under the Air5 brand name.

Magis received three patents for antenna design. The underlying technology of the patents overcomes multipath in an indoor WLAN with the use of multiple antennas.

In addition, the company also obtained a patent for enhanced security technology that employs a form of sophisticated waveform encoding of the 5GHz transmitted signal. According to Magis, the technology makes it extremely difficult for any eavesdropper to extract bit-level information or even signal timing from the signal. The patent is for PHY security designed to enhance Air5's existing encryption-based Triple DES security.
