Holtek rolls VFD driver IC

The HT16511 vacuum fluorescent display (VFD) driver IC of Holtek Semiconductor Inc. is capable of driving 8-grid/16 segment to 12-grid/20-segment VFD devices via software commands.

The 5V device has a VFD input driving voltage of up to VDD-30V and features a 1/8 to 1/16 duty cycle. It also has an 8-step brightness control, 12-by-4 key scan circuit, 4-bit general purpose input ports, and 5-bit LED latch output ports.

Available in a 52-pin QFP, the device also features a three-line serial interface for serial data input and is suitable as a peripheral device for MCUs.
