CyOptics Inc., a developer of InP-based optical components, has acquired the optical component packaging capabilities of CENiX Inc.

The purchase includes the component package design technology and automated manufacturing capability of CENiX located in its facility in Pennsylvania, U.S.A. CENiX has developed a proprietary manufacturing facility that leverages intelligent software and precision hardware for low-cost and uniform production of optoelectronic components of over 10,000 components per month.

In acquiring the new packaging factory, CyOptics is expected to be enabled to provide a wide selection of components, including cooled and uncooled DFB lasers, electro-absorption modulated lasers, and PIN and APD receivers. In addition, CyOptics will be able to supply customized parts for high volume applications, including lasers and detectors for small form factor transponders and transceivers.

The purchase includes the acquisition of all capital equipment, inventory and intellectual property in the said CENiX package development and manufacturing facility. In addition, Cyoptics has hired the core manufacturing technical team of CENiX. Meanwhile, CENiX will retain its optoelectronic subsystem design and intellectual property assets.
