Pericom Semiconductor Corp. has announced the availability of a line of LVDS devices that support signaling rates of up to 660Mbps and are targeted for point-to-point applications in peripherals, telecom, and datacom systems.

The line includes the PI90LV01 single LVDS driver, PI90LVB01 single LVDS driver with high drive, PI90LV02 single LVDS receiver, PI90LVT02 single LVDS receiver with termination, and PI90LVB010 single LVDS transceiver. Also included are the PI90LV03 single LVDS repeater and PI90LVB03 single LVDS repeater with high drive.

The device meet the ANSI TIA/EIA-644-1955 standard and support signaling rates of up to 660Mbps for the drivers and repeaters, up to 400Mbps for the receivers, and >100Mbps for the transceiver. They operate from a 3.3V supply over the -40C to 8C temperature range and are protected against >2kV ESD.

LVDS is a differential standard using two signal lines to communicate data or clock signals over PCB traces or balanced cables. LVDS provides lower noise than single-ended transmission, enabling the signal to be dropped millivolt level, thereby allowing for faster data rates because of the short rise times.

The seven new devices are housed in 5- and 6-pin SOT23 and MSOP packaging with prices ranging from 75 cents to $2 in 1,000-piece quantities.
