Infineon Technologies AG has joined IMEC's industrial affiliation program (IIAP) that focuses on technology for reconfigurable systems. IMEC is an independent research center in Europe, focused on the study of microelectronics and technologies for ICT systems.

The IIAP targets the exploitation of reconfiguration to implement dynamic system behavior. The program hopes to enable the "software-like" use of future reconfigurable SoC platforms consisting of tiles containing combinations of application-specific components, various types of instruction-set processors, fine and coarse grain reconfigurable hardware, as well as memories, which will communicate through an on-chip network. Within this program, IMEC and Infineon will jointly develop an optimized architecture targeted at Infineon's key application areas.
