The FX5545G006 and FX5545G106 are designed to stabilize rechargeable battery outputs, shift dc voltage levels, filter noise, and reduce ripple in power supplies for end products including cordless phones, PDAs, portable computers, digital cameras, routers, laser systems, battery back-up systems, and low-voltage chipsets.
Each device allows either a single-cell Li-ion, three-cell NiCd, or NiMH battery packs to power multiple loads for power amplifiers, microcontrollers, FPGAs, or baseband logic ICs. Both convert input voltages ranging from 2.5V to 6V to low-ripple output voltages ranging from 3.3V to 6V. Output power and maximum current are 7.5W and 1.5A for the FX5545G006 and 10W and 2A for the FX5545G106.
To provide high efficiency, the converters operate in synchronous rectified PWM under full-load while transforming into externally controlled pulse-skipping mode under light loads. At full duty cycle control for PSM operation, the converters operate as saturated linear regulators to extract maximum power from the battery, prolonging battery life and extending "on" time in end-product systems.
Both the FX5545G006 and FX5545G106 serve as complete dc/dc converter circuits, combining a dc/dc controller, MOSFET switches, and up to 18 components in a single compact package. They are highly resistance to shock and moisture, and are screened for operation over the -40C to 85C temperature range without cooling. |
