Maxim video amps enable glitch-free video switching

The MAX4023 to MAX4026 2:1 mux amplifiers (video switches plus video amplifier) of Maxim Integrated Products Inc. feature a switching glitch of 20mVpp and channel switching times of 25ns.

Designed for consumer video products, the video ICs are suitable for RGB driver applications and video routing applications where switching between separate video sources is required. The MAX4023/MAX4024 are unity-gain stable triple/quad mux amps with adjustable gain set by external resistors, while the MAX4024/MAX4026 triple/quad 2:1 mux amps are internally set for a fixed gain of 2V/V.

Available in 14-pin TSSOP and 16-pin QSOP, the device operate from a 4.5V to 11V single supply or 2.25V to 5.5V dual supply. They also feature an input common-mode voltage range that extends to the negative rail.

The MAX4023/MAX4025 amplifiers have a -3dB bandwidth of 260MHz and a 300V/?s slew rate with selectable gain to equalize long cable runs. The MAX4024/MAX4026 have a -3dB bandwidth of 200MHz and a 363V/?s slew rate. They also have a fixed-gain video buffer of 2V/V for driving short back-terminated video traces or cables.

The video ICs draw 19mA of supply current and also feature a low-power disable mode which reduces supply current and places the outputs into a high-impedance state.
