AMD rolls mobile Athlon XP processors for notebooks

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. has introduced a series of AMD Athlon XP-M processors in ?PGA packaging for integration into thin-and-light notebooks that weigh less than 1.5kg as well as full-sized notebooks.

The processors for thin-and-light notebooks come in ?PGA packaging and include the 1800+, 1700+, 1600+, 1500+, and 1400+. For full-sized notebooks, the company is offering the 2600+, 2500+, 2400+, 2200+, and 2000+. The 2500+ features 640KB of full-speed, on-chip cache, while the 2400+ and 2200+ are available in desktop replacement and mainstream notebook form factors.

The Athlon XP-M processors are compatible with AMD's Socket A infrastructure and support the advanced 266MHz AMD Athlon front-side bus. They are manufactured using the company's 0.13?m copper process and are priced ranging from $71 to $246, in 1,000-piece quantities.
