Nihon Dempa Kogyo Co. Ltd. (NDK) is offering four new series of voltage-controlled crystal oscillators for communication systems that require a dual-rate pure-frequency signal.
Incorporating two 155MHz band fundamental crystals, low-phase-noise bipolar oscillator circuits and a frequency-selectable switch, the VCXOs can be switched from their operating frequencies to the forward error correction (FEC) rate. That is said to let the communications equipment correct for jitter and re-establish a consistent frequency quickly.
Available in frequencies ranging from a 155.52MHz to 622.08MHz/FEC rate (selectable), the 7311J, T, K, and Q series of VCXOs come in a small, low-profile SMT package that measures 3.9mm high. All the devices operate on a supply voltage of 3.3Vdc. The 622.08MHz K device is priced at about $80 each in quantities of 10,000 (on tape-and-reel).
