Omron to establish a new R&D facility in Japan

Omron Corp. has begun the construction of a new research center in Kansai Science City in Japan. The center is tentatively named the Omron Keihanna Research Center and about 500 employees are expected to move into the center by April 2003, making it Omron's largest research facility.

The facility will serve as a central base for global R&D and is intended to reflect Omron's essential business generation for the 21st century. Moreover, taking advantage of the Kansai Science City location, the company intends to collaborate with various institutions and companies involved in advanced research, giving birth to technologies never seen before and the creation of new markets.

Headquartered in Kyoto, Japan, Omron provides products and services to customers in a variety of fields including industrial automation, electronic components industries, and health care. Its many products include various control equipment, motion controllers, sensors, switches, control devices, inspection systems, switches, and connectors.
