Motorola Inc.'s Semiconductor Products Sector has expanded its line of integrated CAN MCUs with on-chip Flash memory with the addition of the 68HC908GZ8 and 68HC908GZ16 devices for space-constrained industrial applications.

Available in 32-pin and 48-pin LQFPs, both MCUs are based on the company's 8-bit HC08 architecture and are compatible with the 6805, 146805, and 68HC05 families. The 68HC908GZ8 and 68HC908GZ16 feature CAN modules with 8KB and 16KB of Flash memory, respectively and offer system protection features such as computer operating properly and low voltage detection functions to prevent the Flash memory from being overwritten or corrupted.

In addition, the 68HC908GZ16 has two 16-bit timers, enhanced serial communications interface, suitable for LIN and SPI, and 3.3V or 5V operation.
