Z-Com Inc., a Taiwan-based wireless networking solutions provider, has selected Integrated Device Technology Inc.'s (IDT) RC32334 processor from the IDT Interprise PCI family, to power Z-Com's latest IEEE 802.11g WLAN access-point product.

The IDT RC32334 processor is designed to offer communications equipment manufacturers design flexibility and price/performance advantages in an integrated and single-chip solution. To enhance bandwidth, the processor provides a 32-bit PCI interface supporting three external bus masters operating up to 66MHz. The processor also integrates a flexible memory controller. These features have been the basis of Z-Com's choice, making the ODT processor suitable for a wireless access point (WAP) solution.

"Integrated communications processors from IDT deliver the computing power necessary to support the emerging 802.11g standard," stated John Hsieh, president of Z-Com. "The integration levels and price/performance ratio of the RC32334 device, as well as the application software provided by IDT, enabled us to meet the system cost, scalability and time-to-market goals we set for our product."
